Chief Ronald Flynn
Ron Flynn has
always been around the fire department. Having a father and
several brothers who were active, it only seemed natural for
Ron to get involved at a young age. As a boy scout at the
age of fourteen, Ron worked with the fire department to
start the Explorer’s Program. The program was designed to
teach and provide experiences related to fire service.
Becoming an Explorer was just the beginning…twenty-six years
later Ron is proud to say he is the Chief of Neptune Hose
Company. Throughout his time with the department he has
been an officer for twenty years as well as volunteering
with the ambulance operation for fifteen years.
After hearing
about the amount of time Ron has spent and continues to
spend at the fire department some might ask, “Are you nuts?”
Ron feels that his volunteerism is a “rewarding commitment
of available time”; however it is sometimes difficult to
balance his responsibilities as Fire Chief with family life
and work. So how does Chief Flynn spend his ‘free time’…he
states adamantly that it is important to spend time with
family and friends.
Chief Flynn is
appreciative of the hard working men and women who currently
volunteer at the Dryden Fire Department! “Train hard and
stay safe” is the advice that Chief Flynn gives his current
volunteers as well those who are thinking about joining the
department. If you are interested in beginning a rewarding
journey by volunteering stop by the station and pick up your
